2006 Britballrun
A fantastic range of teams, eccentric characters and beautiful cars took part in Britballrun 2006. Each of the 3-days drew upon different types of navigational challenges and through different driving environments.
Day 1
After an early start in Stirling (mid-Scotland) the teams headed north towards Inverness. The control points then directed the teams south along the length of Loch Ness and through the most beautiful Scottish scenery taking in Loch Lomond and driving through the Grampian Mountains, before ending in central Glasgow. En route there was a unexpected surprise as Splodge proposed to his overwhelmed girlfriend H at the foot of the Glencoe Mountain - she said "yes".
Day 2
At the breifing, the teams were warned that this would be the toughest day both in distance and driving skills. The teams headed south through Dumfries, Blackpool, Wrexham and Worcester and back north to Solihull (having to pick up various items on route, from the longest stick of Blackpool rock through to a stamped postcard of Worcester Cathedral - not the easiest thing to find on a Sunday afternoon) each item had points incentives that would impact each entrants overall mileage travelled and their overall positions/score.
Day 3
Day three was a shorter turn-by-turn navigational challenge - the navigator having to keep his/her concentration throughout, reading through detailed directional instructions, that didn't allow for any mistakes. The finishing point and chequered flag was at Gaydon Motor Museum where the teams re-grouped for the final presentation.
The 2006 winners were ‘The Gasmen’ (team 007) who took the title from the 2005 winners team Big Johnson Recon who came a close gallant second.

All the Best
